Wrap Up and Thank-yous

If you were there, you know what kind of fun we had. And if you weren't, well why not?

I want to send out some thank-yous, because an event like this does not happen in a vacuum.

*First and foremost, a big thanks to Devin Pike, the coordinator for the world-wide event. Despite also planning his wedding and getting married just before the event dates, Devin was able to ride herd on Browncoats all over the globe, and help us produce a truly united effort. Thanks, Devin!

*Thanks to all of our global sponsors, whose names you can see to the left. Their generous support is the reason that so many of the Browncoats at our screening were able to walk away with some awesome swag. They came through for us on a massive scale (one might almost call it global) and their generosity deserves my thanks.

*A big thank-you to my local sponsor Happy Harbor Comics, and specifically Jay Bardyla, one of the owners. His help and support leading up to and on the day of the event was tremendous, and much of its success is due to his efforts. Despite having a continuously full plate, Jay and everyone at HH work hard to support local geekery, and manage to stay friendly and positive doing it.

*Metro Cinema, and specifically Marsh, deserve a huge thank-you. Not only did they provide their venue to us at an insanely generous rate, but Marsh made the whole process completely painless. Add to that their willingness to host us again next year (yes, there will be a next year, circle your calendars now), and I can't say enough good things about Metro. Thanks, Marsh!

*Thank-you so much to all of my hard-working volunteers, without whom this would never have been possible. You guys are the best crew a captain could want, and I'll fly with you anywhere.

*A big thanks to all of you Browncoats as well, for coming out and supporting this fund-raiser with your presence and your dollars. Both are appreciated, and because of your support we were able to raise $1000 for Equality Now this year. You should all be proud!

*And finally, a big thank-you to Josh Whedon and all the Big Damn Heroes, for giving us a reason to do this. You made something great, and you continue to be generous in your support of something we have come to love. I know we might get a bit...worrisome at times, but we do it because we believe in the things the series and the characters stood for. So thanks for giving us something to believe in.

That's it for this year. Keep this page bookmarked, and check back in the coming months for details about Can't Stop the Serenity 2008. I promise you, third time is definitely the charm!

Keep flyin'!

If the movie and the cause weren't enough for you...

Heya, Folks! In case you needed a bit more incentive to attend, here are some shots of one of the door prizes: the dress worn by Morena Baccarin's stunt double in the movie. Thank you again to Prop Store of London for the fabulous donation, and to my friend Morgan for modeling for me.
